We are Virgil and Jody Aurand. Our homestead and ForestCraft workshop is located in the beautiful mountain forests of northern Idaho.
Virgil handcrafts functional & beautiful items using traditional hand tools, such as axes, knives, handsaws, planes, and a lathe, as well as a few modern ones, depending on the work at hand. He crafts these unique items from local, sustainably-sourced wood, that often would have ended up as firewood.
He’s learned the art of wooden bowl turning, spoon carving, tool forging and hand tool woodworking from renowned craftspeople. He’s heavily influenced by them, and connects with many of them on a daily basis, inspiring him to take his skills to the next level.
We feel a strong connection to the hand-crafted & slow living culture movements, and strive to create meaningful objects, that hopefully, can help curb just a bit of our "throw-away consumer culture" mindset.
Honey & Beeswax
We keep honeybees and sell honey, beeswax and other related items. These will be added to the web store as they become available

NEW HOME & WORKSHOP ARE UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
I'm in the process of building a Timber Frame home and a new workshop. This means I'm outside working in the elements until they're finished, and so, it takes me a bit longer to keep up with my stock of wooden ware.
Thank you for your support... and patience. I'll be running at full speed once the buildings are under roof!
